The ancient City of Wells - 50 mins Drive, Where the magnificent West front of Wells Cathedral contains the largest gallery of mediaeval sculpture in the world. Next door the Bishops Palace and Gardens are also well worth a visit. Here mute swans on the Palace moat ring a bell for food, a tradition passed down since the 19th century.

Tyntesfield – Wraxall, nr Clevedon - 10 mins Drive, Bought for the nation in 2002, here you can see practical conservation work being undertaken, though visits do need to be pre-booked. Tyntesfield National trust property was owned by the Gibbs family who also owned the SS Great Britain during the Emigrant time in 1852
Clevedon Court – Clevedon - 10 mins Drive, A little altered 14th century manor house with a beautiful terraced garden and fabulous collection of local ornate Nailsea glass.
A little further away is the village of Dunster, nr Minehead with its charming high street and National Trust Castle. The castle has impressive 17th century interiors, wonderful views across Exmoor & the Bristol Channel and a working watermill.
